Harmonic Effect

Submitted by sverma on Sat, 2015-03-14 23:03

One of my old-time hobbies has been the open reel tape recorder. I'm a big fan!

Magnetic tape adds a certain "warmth" to the music. It seems this effect comes from the harmonic effect generated as the tape slides past the tape head. People like this effect so much, that modern-day digital music editors come with "tape effect plugins" for popular tape and decks.

Great news! We're excited to announce that Turtle Art Day will be held in conjunction with this year's Community Summit this weekend! Our summit will be focused on the intersection of education and technology. We'll discuss what's going on in the One Laptop Per Child universe, as well as what other education outreach communities are doing globally. The goal is to get folks together to discuss problems, collaborate, and find solutions together.

In-person, online or both?

Submitted by sverma on Sat, 2014-08-09 15:33

We are getting ready to set up the annual community summit (2014 will be the sixth such summit) and we've made a significant change to the way we organize it. This year, we will be running an online and an in-person event. The summit will be held October 17 to 19, 2014. You can either be here with us in-person, or be online and attend! Let us know what your thinking is at this time, so we can organize accordingly.

Take the poll and help us plan!

Submitted by sverma on Mon, 2014-06-23 11:04

Thanks to Mike Lee, a recording of the Google Hangout from our June 2014 meeting is up on Youtube. Clearly there are better ways of managing Google Hangouts, and clearly I don't know most of these, so once again, thanks to Mike Lee for saving the day! For the parts of the session on XOVis, you can see a blog post at http://www.olpcsf.org/node/208, and get slides from http://www.slideshare.net/sverma/xovis-analyticsvisualizationsugarolpc-3... .

It's alive!

Given the recent excitement of dead/alive discussions about OLPC and olpc, I've put together a short set of questions to help assess where the "organization" is. By organization, I don't mean a company or an institution, but the organization in general. The questions are about mission, vision, strengths, and so on.

Here's the survey.
