Our own Sameer Verma has been elected for a two-year term on the Sugar Labs Oversight Board! He joins the board of 7 members governing the future of Sugar Labs.
Elections for the Sugar Labs Oversight Board were held in January. All seven seats were up for election, the top 4 winners were elected for two-year terms and the following 3 were elected for one-year terms. In this way approximately half the board is up for election each year, going forward.
This year's Summit is wrapped up and behind us. Thank you all who attended in person or online. During the Summit we presented the proclamation from San Francisco's Mayor Ed Lee that Saturday October 18th, 2014 is One Laptop Per Child Day!
Great news! We're excited to announce that Turtle Art Day will be held in conjunction with this year's Community Summit this weekend! Our summit will be focused on the intersection of education and technology. We'll discuss what's going on in the One Laptop Per Child universe, as well as what other education outreach communities are doing globally. The goal is to get folks together to discuss problems, collaborate, and find solutions together.
If you've ever attended the OLPC-SF Community Summit, you're familiar with the t-shirts that we give to all attendees. In the past, we've had a volunteer step up to create the design which has worked out well but we've always wanted to encourage openness and collaboration where possible. After all, this is a Community Summit. Which is why this year, we are hosting a T-shirt Design Collaboration to get more involvement from the community in the open-source spirit.
Can't make it to San Francisco for the Community Summit? Send us your poster! We are currently accepting submissions for the 2013 Community Summit Poster Session. Submitting a poster is a great way to let others know about your project. Full details are available on the submission page.
